You’ve made a new life in a new country. Seven years later, an old boyfriend turns up. You’re thrown together again. Maybe he wasn’t so bad...
What if he turns out to be the devil?
Grey dawn in the mysterious city of Vienna. A container-truck pulls into a side street. A number of people are released from their hiding place inside the container. Amongst them is Anna. The truck drives quickly away. The refugees scatter, going somewhere; anywhere. In the background, Nicolas, the organisation's Mr Big watches sardonically.
Seven years later: Anna is British now, and married to Christopher, the young vicar of an archetypal English village. He is besotted with her. She is fond of him. It was a way to get a passport. But you can't escape who you are.
A friend dies in Vienna - a woman who came smuggled with Anna in the same container. Anna goes to the funeral.
In Vienna she falls back under Nick's spell - they were lovers, all those years ago. She knows he still has women trapped, as she once was, paying off the cost of their transport. She knows of all the other ways he makes money from people. Still she can't help herself.
Then her priest arrives - sensing something more than just criminal around Nick; sniffing sulphur.
So the Good and the Evil are set up to fight for Anna - and the result is in doubt all the way to the horrifying conclusion amongst the flames of the vast oil refinery outside the city.
