Farnham Film in May Newsletter, 25 May 2001
During the first few months of the year, The Farnham Film Company has been instrumental in bringing two new projects to the screen:
"Plato's Breaking Point", is a genre movie - a thriller by Nigel Barker. The film was a low-budget production and we have assisted in arranging completion finance. There is a clip on the site at the moment, and this will be replaced by clips from the newly completed film as soon as we have it.
While we're talking about web video - we've been mightily impressed by the new Windows Media 8 encoder, which is now (since last week) available in Microsoft's updated Encoding Tools 7.1. We can be as ambivalent about Microsoft as anyone, but the quality/file-size/data-rate package is absolutely amazing. We'll be re-encoding all the video on our web site, and adding more over the next few weeks.
Secondly, I've been working with Rooftop Productions and secured a commission from Taste/CFN (formerly the Carlton Food Network) part of ITV digital, (and soon to be on Sky digital, I hear) to produce a 13 part series, "Takeaway".
"Takeaway" takes the chef from your High Street "Bombay Takeaway" (or whatever) in the UK, to Bombay to finds out if they're cooking the real thing - or how and why the food is changed for British consumption, if it's different. India is only one of twelve countries the series will visit, and the results are due to hit your screens at the end of the year.
